Czech Republic, Europe
Hi there, I'm Alan, nicknamed Factor6. I'm one of the few chip music makers from the small country in the heart of Europe, The Czech Republic. My most favourite soundchip is AY-3-8912 inside the famous Sinclair ZX Spectrum 128K computers. I'm also active on Commodore 64 scene as well as other cool old computers like Atari ST, Atari 8-bit, Amstrad CPC, Amiga and I own some other machines like ZX81 and Sharp MZ-821. My musicmaking history begun in 1990 when I tried to make some beeps from my Spectrum. It wasn't really good and when I got Amiga 500 in 1993, I found ProTracker 2.2A very comfortable tool for making music even for me, a newbie. Later my friend started demo making on a Spectrum, so he asked me for a chip music for his demos. So I started to make 8-bit music (I switched from Amiga to Spectrum!). Later then I got a C64 and now I own almost all popular 8-bit computers with interesting sound capabilities. I still focus on Spectrum AY music, but I also try making SID-sound on my 520ST+ and some Amiga 4-channel ProTracking :) It's quite a paradox, that I never liked advanced MIDI software which is totally different of tracker editing and I find it hardly uncomfortable for me. Even the Garage Band on my Mac is pain in my ass :) Software I usually use: - ZX Spectrum: SQ-Tracker v1.03 - C64: TFX v2.8 or newer, SIDWinder - Amstrad CPC: StarKos - Atari ST: MaxYMizer - Amiga: ProTracker (from 2.2, 3.61, etc...) I don't own any music synthesizer because it's not much needed for chiptuning and for sample modules I always find some suitable samples over the internet.
